New Years Eve (with the Kids)!

FINAL-new-years-diy

I don’t know about you, but New Years Eve has drastically changed for my husband and I over the last few years.  Pre-kid, you would have most likely found us ringing in the New Year with some cover band at some local bar at the bottom of a mountain after a long day of skiing (heaven!).  But, since having our son, we’re lucky if we make it to midnight, sitting on our coach, in our pajamas.  There is something oddly comforting about this, though.  And although, I sometimes miss the freedom of being able to stay out all night if I wanted to, truth be told, there is no place I would rather be than on that sofa with my husband and son.  This year, we’re planning on stepping up our celebration a bit.  Here are some great ideas I found for celebrating the New Year – family style!

Throw a Hollywood Red Carpet themed Party!  Andrea, from Savvy Sassy Moms, shares her idea for planning a start-studded night that both kids and adults will enjoy!

I love Geek Mom’s idea for making a “Fortune Wheel” full of funny sayings and fortunes that every person at the party can pull off!

Making a New Years time capsule is a great way to spend the evening with your family.  Plus, you’re ensuring that you will have a great activity for the following year when you open them up and reminisce.

Love the idea for New Years Eve Countdown bags from the Idea Room.  The idea is that you simply draw the clock hands on each bag to represent each hour of the evening you want to have an activity for the family and kids to do together.  So fun!

New Years horns are great, but EDIBLE New Years horns are even better!  Beth from Hungry Happenings shows how easy it is to make them. -

What kid wouldn’t love to toast in the New Year with a milk and sprinkles shot
