The votes are in!

We asked you to share your favorite thredUP moments with us and you did! We loved seeing your kids, your homes and the moments that were special to you. Some of you love the surprises and extras that thredUP moms add to boxes while others enjoy seeing the look on their child’s face when a box arrives. Video entries included poems, capes, cute happy dances, and extreme box packing. Now for the important part….

The Fan favorite video winner received over 325 views on YouTube and was created by Anissa Danly!

Picking the second winner of thredUP’s choice was no easy task. The office was divided by two great videos and the debate consumed our morning! Here are your two winners and the runner up:

Fan Favorite Winner - $100 cash prize: Anissa Danley, sent in this great video of her daughter’s “happy dance”

thredUP’s Favorite Winner - $100 cash prize: Talk about a thredUP moment

Runner up - $10 swap credit (because we had to): Star Wars and Bumble Bee’s Oh My

Thank you for sharing your moments. We hope you’ll have many more along the way! All the great entries can be found in the “favorites” section of thredUP’s YouTube page.

PS Do you have suggestions for our next photo or video contest? We would love your feedback on how to improve contests, along with ideas for new themes and prizes. Let comments below!

My thredUP Moment Video Contest

Vyou-blog-ad_1

We want a peek into your favorite thredUP moments! Record a 30 second video sharing your favorite thredUP moment or experience for a chance to win $100 and a feature on thredUP.com.  We’re giving away $100 for our favorite video and $100 to the “fan favorite” with the most views.

What should I talk about in my video? In your video you should answer one simple question: what was your favorite thredUP moment? Keep it casual, sweet and short. Imagine you’re sharing your story with a close friend. Feel free to use props such as clothing or boxes or get your kids’ involved!

Too many wonderful moments to choose from? Here are some suggestions: did another member make your day with something special? How do your kids feel when they get a box? Do you feel good about sharing your stuff with another family? Did you have an ‘aha!’ moment about how much money you’ve saved?

How do I enter? Record your video and follow the instructions on YouTube.com to create an account (if you don’t have one already). Follow instructions about how to upload a video, paying attention to file type and size limitations. Once your video is posted, make sure to tag the video “thredUP Moment.” If you don’t tag the video properly, we won’t be able to find your submission and you will not be eligible to win. Send an email to tara@thredup.com if you are having any issues.

What are the contest dates?

October 17th – October 26th

Winner will be announced on October 27th

How do I win? Ask friends and family to watch your thredUP submission by sending them the link to your video! All the videos will be up on thredUP’s YouTube Channel.  The video with the most votes wins the “fan favorite” $100cash prize. thredUP will also select a favorite video winner for the second $100 prize.

How will thredUP pick videos for the website? thredUP will judge video submissions on the following: video quality and clear communication.

Filming Tips: Pay attention to your surroundings.  What’s in the background? Do you have good lighting? Is there a lot of noise? This will help you create the most professional video possible. Please make your video usable “year round” and avoid holiday related props. If you have specific questions about how to create a professional video please email tara@thredup.com and we’ll do our best to help you.

How many winners will thredUP select? There are only two grand prizewinners: “fan favorite” and thredUP’s favorite. Several videos may be selected for the testimonials page.

What will happen to videos that don’t end up on thredUP.com? By submitting a video, you agree that it can be used for thredUP marketing purposes. Your video may be shared on our social media pages, stay on YouTube or be included in our “customer testimonials” section.

Halloween Photo Contest - Winners!!!

Thanks to all of you who entered the contest!  We received over 300 incredible Halloween photos so picking the winners was extremely hard.  I can honestly say that each and every picture was absolutely adorable!  But, the favorite picture among the majority of us here at thredUP was submitted by Vicki Griffin.  Vicki has won a $50 thredUP credit!  Check out her little rock stars:

This is from Halloween 2010.  My best friend and I thought it would be fun to dress our kids up as KISS since our husbands are big fans. (My two are Paul and Ace) We made the costumes and entered our local Halloween parade complete with a "stage" and a constant stream of KISS music.  The kids rocked out and even sang along.  They were a hit. We had people stopping us all night while trick or treating to get their pictures. Even at most houses we had to stop and pose. They were true rock stars!

We have also selected 3 runners up!  Congrats to Chelsea Vincent, Sherry Norman and Kristen Moore.  Each of you will receive a thredUP tee shirt!  Take a look at their cuties!!

Simply Improved

If you haven’t sent a box in the last 3 hours (I know you night owl Moms are on thredUP all night…), you probably haven’t seen our new Send Now flow for sending boxes on thredUP. It is WAY better than it was before and our goal was to simplify the process for you on a bunch of levels. This is the 2nd big update after updating the Review process in just the last month. We have more great new improvements coming soon, but enough about that…here’s how the new sending procedure has been improved:

First, we wanted to make it easier for you simply to do what you usually do – click the send button, print the label and schedule the pick-up.  The default experience is now cleaner and faster.

Second, we wanted to build some tools for you to update the status of the box when things didn’t go exactly as planned. For example, you scheduled a pick-up, but now you want to drop it off. No need to let us know, you can do it yourself. Want to re-schedule a pick-up? We made that easier, too. Want to change the address for pick-up? Done.

Third, for new members who might still be learning we wanted to build a help tool to troubleshoot any questions you have on your own. So now, if you do have questions like “I’ve lost one of the items in the box, what do I do now?” you can fix that yourself without our intervention.

Fourth, we added a confirmation receipt/screen that we’ll eventually integrate into your My Account view so you can see the complete history of boxes you’ve sent on thredUP and all those various details.

We hope these changes make it easier than ever to send boxes once they’ve been picked and we welcome your feedback on how it’s going. As always, we’re working hard to make sure your thredUP experience is improving.  Thanks for your patience, feedback and help along the way.

Meet the TU Team!

All of us here at thredUP love the amazing community of Moms that use our service. We love reading your stories and seeing the photos you openly share of your families. While we feel like we have gotten to know many of you, we thought it was high time we introduce you to our family at thredUP. One at a time, a different thredUP employee will say 'Hi' and share their story. Without further introduction, meet Tara, thredUP's Social Marketing Manager.

Headshot

Hi everyone! My name is Tara, and I have worked at thredUP since June of this year. I wanted to share with you a little bit about myself and what I do.  My background is in public relations and education. I taught preschool for several years and realized immediately that the idea for thredUP was brilliant and I had to apply!

In my job I wear many hats, but in a nutshell, I mostly I work on creative ways to spread the word about thredUP to new moms. I do everything from work events and field research to creating marketing campaigns and forming relationships with bloggers.

This is where I spend about 70% of my time. Believe me these big monitors come in handy!

This was the first day at the new office. As usual we will play Tetris with the furniture until we get it right. The thredUP green is a must! We also have whiteboard paint to draw our ideas on the wall.

My personal hobby and passion is to cook. Once a week I attempt to make something I have never tried before. This week’s challenge was lamb shanks. It was incredible. Every week is different and sometimes difficult. It doesn't always go as planned...like the weekend I tried Calamari.

This is my cat Princess Bob. She loves to sleep, eat, and cuddle. Her job is to be cute. She has the best life and I really wish she would start paying rent.

thredUP has a “Work at home Wednesday” option for employees every week. The Princess loves when I get to work from home. I think you can see why.  J

Thank you for letting me share my story with you!
